RE:FWD: Zine Bread Buffet
During this Zine Bread Buffet, talk to artists Sophie Soobramanien and Shreya de Souza about the special edition of their Zine Bread Buffet for/about the exhibition RE:FWD.
The workshop/loose reading group (no prior reading required), titled – Slippery Hope – will be around the theme of hope and hopelessness, exploring personal road maps for building a critical, active and error-embracing hope within the current moment. Sophie and Shreya will look at thinkers and ideas that are informing our politics and desires on this subject; Bell Hooks, Brazilian Quilombos, Amílcar Cabral, trust, The commons, The Ahwari people (and more…)
They would love to talk together and see where we meet and diverge, learning through and from one another.
Sophie and Shreya conduct research into current social themes and try to translate academic results into audience-friendly texts that they make available in self-designed, low-budget “zines” (mini-magazines).
For RE:FWD they have created a new edition of Bread Buffet, Slippery Hope, inspired by the publications Hope in the Dark by Rebecca Solnit and Hope is a Discipline by Mariame Kaba. In this way they add a substantive layer to the exhibition.
During this special Bread Buffet in Kunstlinie, Shreya and Sophie will enter the exhibition with you as a participant and talk to you about their finds.
