In 17th century Holland a bible was published influencing the heart and soul of its society. It was the first unabridged Dutch translation of the Bible, from the original languages Hebrew and Greek. No other book has had more influence on the daily life of the Dutch people over the centuries. Since the 16th century most Dutch became members of the Reformed Church also known as the Protestant Church. Protestants attach great value to bible-reading.
